When it comes to my skin, I have always battled oily skin/acne prone skin, until I had kids. Something about having kids/breastfeeing (ehm hormones!) has turned my skin care upside down. Thanks babies!
My face is now “dry” or as my estetichian says “dehydrated”. I drink tons of water but it’s never quite enough. Although, my T zone typically gets oily only when I have make up on. I really have to pay attention to what I’m doing now while still keeping it simple. Because time is of the essence.
Here are some products/ things that I love and have worked for my combination and acne prone skin. I’m fairly young so I haven’t quite dipped into the anti-aging pool yet. I’m not against injections either. I mean they always say get them as a preventative, right? Anyways, I am sure my time is coming and I need to be looking to this… What’s your go-to products/treatment for anti-aging?
I love these L’oreal Clay Masks! I can usually catch them on sale at our grocery store every few months but they are worth every penny! I’ve tried high end masks and the cheap $1 masks; these by far are my favorite. I usually mix it up every week or so but the green is my favorite right now. It helps your makeup go on flawlessly. Not kidding!
I mentioned this Aveeno Moisturizer a few posts ago in my Mom Makeup Must Haves, but again, it works so well for me. Since I can be acne prone, this is light enough to not clog pores but heavy enough to moisturize the dry parts of my skin. It has never caused a break out on me.
We keep this in the shower and both my husband and I use this daily. Sometimes, I have the skin of a 12 year old but staying on top of a good cleanser like this keeps the zits away! I’m not crazy about three or four step face cleansers. I know it takes a little bit to clear out all of the bad, but I can’t ever seem to get past major breakouts. When I do wear make up I do not usually go to bed with it still on… #MOMLIFE.
I do not put makeup on everyday, maybe closer to a few times a week if that. These Simple Micellar wipes have been my favorite and I feel like I’ve tried everything under the SUN. Most of them burn my eyes which is crazy! These have done me right every time I’ve bought them. I was partial to Burt’s Bees wipes for a long time, but this brand is just a good. Better yet, they do not dry my face out at all.
Like I said before, I have not jumped into the anti-aging stuff just yet. I turned 24 this summer, but I am sure my time is coming. Right now, I am just trying to get my skin back to a “normal”ish state. I have/will have been either pregnant or breastfeeding for close to two years and still going. Hormones have done a number on my skin!
I have done some microdermabrasion treatments and I love them. It’s always a good reset for your face and really has no side effects other than staying out of the sun for a few days. I love them, highly recommend finding a spa that offers that service!
So for now, these are the basics. Every now and then if I come across something intriguing I am all for trying it. Any suggestions?
